The pain points of the industry
- The unit changes along the way. You buy by cubic meter, store by piece and sell by meter. If each one counts in their own unit, stock never adds up.
- Waste isn’t recorded. What’s lost in cutting, what warps or what gets wet disappears from the yard but not from the spreadsheet.
- Many similar sizes. A 2×4 beam of 3 meters and one of 3.5 are different products, and in the yard they get mixed up.
- The yard isn’t counted often. Counting wood takes hours, and when it’s done once a year the differences can no longer be explained.
- Size inquiries by phone. “Do you have 1×6 boards of 4 meters?” and someone has to go out to the yard.
How Aty solves it
One size, one product, one unit. Each size is entered as a product with its code and the unit you sell it in. It’s the rule that makes the system’s number and the yard’s number the same.
Waste as an adjustment with a reason. What’s lost is recorded as a stock adjustment with its reason. It shows in the movements, with who made it, and stops being a mysterious difference at year end.
Counts by zone, blind. A count doesn’t have to cover the whole yard: you count one zone, whoever counts doesn’t see what the system expects, and differences are adjusted with a reason. Counting a little and often is what keeps the number reliable.
A catalog with the exact size. The public catalog shows each size with its availability, with or without price. The customer who asks by phone gets a link instead of waiting for someone to go out to the yard.
Quotes for construction jobs and carpentry. Quotes with frozen prices and an expiration date that turn into an order once accepted.
